Bamboo Costa Rica has been in operation since 1981 in the southern part of Costa Rica. Our roots in the bamboo business date back to the early twentieth century, when our family's grandfather started a bamboo plantation on less than three acres. Almost a century later, the family operation has grown from a small bamboo furniture factory into a large facility with over seven hundred acres of available Guadua bamboo plantations. Today, after generations of bamboo knowledge and expertise gained, Bamboo Costa Rica has become the leading bamboo company in Central America.
We recently opened a Maryland office to better serve our customers in the United States. Bamboo Costa Rica can facilitate container shipments from Costa Rica to all ports in the US. We also sell smaller standard stocking quantities of guadua poles from our warehouse in Frederick, Maryland.

The manufacturing process and cultivation of our bamboo provide steady employment to the local people. Bamboo Costa Rica is the major employer in the town where it is located, contributing not only to the socio-economic development of the local community, but also to the environmental protection of the area. Since bamboo is harvested on a yearly basis it regenerates rapidly, making bamboo an excellent alternative to wood. When you purchase bamboo from us you are contributing to the preservation of the environment and our priceless rain forest.

Because Bamboo Costa Rica has its own Guadua bamboo plantations we are able to apply strict quality control throughout the planting, harvesting, treating, and drying process. Even though we have almost a century of experience in cultivating and working with bamboo, we are constantly researching and developing new techniques to improve the quality of our bamboo.
